Topics, Titles and Abstracts

Horvathy: Noncommuting coordinates in the  Hall effect and in vortex dynamics
Abstract: Quantization, of the simple first-order "Chern-Simons Mechanics" considered by Dunne, Jackiw and Trugenberger in 1991 yields Laughlin's wave functions in the fractional Quantum Hall effect (1983). The same model has actually been used  in 1949 by Onsager to describe the dynamics of superfluid vortices and ... in 1883 by Kirchoff for an incompressible planar fluid.
